Copyright and takedowns

Last updated: September 12, 2026

Organizations upload model files so makers can print them. They promise in our Terms that they have the right to share those files. If you believe a file on PrintTime infringes your copyright, tell us and we will act quickly.

How to report an infringing file

Email support@printtime.org with the subject "Copyright notice" and include:

  • the web address of the PrintTime job that contains the file,
  • a description of the work you own, and where the original can be seen,
  • your name and a way to contact you,
  • a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized, and that the information in your notice is accurate.

What we do

  • We remove or disable the file, usually within a few days of a complete notice.
  • We tell the organization that uploaded it why it was removed.
  • If the uploader believes the removal was a mistake, they can reply with an explanation and we will share it with you. We restore a file only if the dispute is resolved or the notice is withdrawn.
  • Accounts that repeatedly upload material they have no right to share are suspended.

Using designs from Printables, Thingiverse, and similar sites

Many community designs are shared under licenses that allow printing for non-commercial use. Check the license before uploading, credit the designer in your request description, and do not upload files marked "no derivatives" or "personal use only" unless the designer has given permission.
