Terms of Service
Last updated: September 12, 2026
1. Who we are and what PrintTime is
PrintTime (printtime.org) is operated by Tiger Lin, a student at the Princeton International School of Mathematics and Science (PRISMS) in Princeton, New Jersey, United States. It is a volunteer-run platform, not a company, that connects non-profit organizations with makers - volunteers who donate 3D printing time and filament. We provide the platform; we are not a party to the arrangements between organizations and makers, and we do not make, ship, or inspect parts.
2. Accepting these terms
By creating an account you confirm that you are at least 13 years old and that you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. We record the date you accepted. If you are under 18, you should have a parent or guardian's permission, and makers who ship parts to organizations should be adults.
3. Accounts
You must provide accurate information, keep your password secure, and are responsible for activity under your account. Organizations are checked by a real person before they can post requests.
4. Acceptable use
Don't post unlawful, harmful, infringing, or deceptive content; don't upload model files you don't have the right to share; don't misuse or attempt to disrupt the service. We may suspend or remove accounts and content that violate these terms.
5. Printing scope
PrintTime is for everyday parts that hobbyist printers do well. Requests outside this scope may be removed, and repeatedly posting them may lead to suspension. Every organization confirms its request is within scope when posting.
We print:
- Functional parts
- Replacement parts
- Educational and teaching aids
- Fixtures and jigs
- Enclosures and housings
- Signage
- Prototypes
- Organizational tools (holders, organizers, mounts)
We do not print:
- Medical or assistive devices that contact the body or affect health (prosthetics, orthotics, splints)
- Load-bearing or safety-critical parts
- Anything that will touch food or drink
- Weapons or weapon parts
- Anything the requester does not have the rights to
Parts are made by volunteer makers on hobbyist equipment with no certification or quality-assurance guarantee, and are not fit for safety-critical use.
6. Jobs and volunteering
Organizations are responsible for the jobs they post; makers are responsible for the work they choose to take on. Makers volunteer as they are able, and PrintTime does not guarantee that any job will be claimed, completed, or delivered by any date.
7. Model files and intellectual property
When you upload or link a model file, you warrant that you own it or hold all rights needed to share it and have it printed. You grant PrintTime and the makers who claim your job a non-exclusive license to store, display, download, and print that model solely to fulfill your request. You keep all other rights.
If you believe a file on PrintTime infringes your copyright, follow the process on our Copyright page. We remove infringing files promptly and suspend accounts that repeatedly upload material they have no right to share.
8. No representation about parts; your responsibility
PrintTime makes no representation or warranty about the suitability of any part for any purpose. Parts are made by volunteer makers on hobbyist equipment without certification or quality assurance. Requesters are responsible for inspecting the parts they receive and accept full responsibility for how those parts are used, including any decision to use them in a way outside the printing scope above.
9. Disclaimers and liability
The service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, PrintTime and its operator are not liable for any damages arising from use of the platform, from any printed part, or from interactions between users.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we will tell you by email or a notice on the site. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
